My Story
I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t creating.
Growing up in the Pennsylvania countryside as the only girl among six children, I found some of my greatest companions in my little dog and the beautiful world just outside our door. Long before I knew what I wanted to be, I was fascinated by the quiet moments most people overlooked, the changing seasons, the soft light at sunrise, weathered old barns, wildlife in the fields, and the peaceful stillness found in nature.
Those moments shaped who I became.
Like many artists, I spent countless hours watching Bob Ross paint on television, dreaming that one day I could create something that made people feel the same sense of peace and wonder I felt while watching him bring landscapes to life.
Photography entered my life through my older brother. His passion inspired me to pick up my very first camera, and from that moment on, I began seeing the world differently. I realized that photographs could preserve more than images…
They could preserve feelings.
A quiet sunrise.
An old lighthouse standing against the wind.
A deer pausing at the edge of the woods.
A forgotten country road.
Each photograph became a little memory capsule I could revisit whenever I wanted to experience that moment again.
Eventually those photographs inspired paintings.
Those paintings inspired journals.
Those journals inspired gifts.
And little by little, Nancy’s Crafting Nook was born.
Why I Create
People often ask me what inspires my work.
The answer is simple.
Nature.
Not because it’s perfect.
But because it’s honest.
The woods don’t rush.
The lake doesn’t hurry.
Wildflowers bloom exactly when they’re meant to.
The changing seasons remind us that growth, rest, change, and renewal all have their place.
When I create, I’m not trying to recreate nature.
I’m trying to preserve the feeling it gives me.
My hope is that every photograph, painting, journal, and handcrafted piece encourages someone to pause, breathe deeply, and rediscover the beauty that has been there all along.
My Dream
For many years, creativity lived in the spaces around a busy corporate career.
Early mornings.
Late evenings.
Weekends.
Whenever I could find a little extra time.
But deep down, I’ve always dreamed of something more.
A life where creativity isn’t squeezed into the margins, but becomes the center of each day. A life where mornings begin with gratitude instead of rushing. Where inspiration comes from walking through nature instead of sitting in meetings. Where I have the freedom to create, explore, write, photograph, and spend more time with the people I love. Nancy’s Crafting Nook is helping me build that life, one thoughtful creation at a time. Every order, every kind message, and every person who chooses to support my work becomes part of that journey.
